Vintage Turkish Runner Rug, 3.11 x 10 ft Rug, 120 x 305 cm

Woven by Central Anatolian nomads some sixty years ago, this Konya runner is a vivid map of movement and migration. Broad bands in burnt orange, midnight blue, olive and plum carry elongated arrow motifs, each pointing to distant horizons and echoing the steady rhythm of caravan routes across the steppe. Small hooked diamonds, saw-tooth edges and scattered “S” charms for protection animate the space between, while crisp ivory ladder motifs bind the composition like pathways linking oasis to oasis.

Technique: Hand-woven flat-weave kilim, wool on wool

Condition: Very good vintage condition with light, even patina and the characteristic irregularities of a fully hand-loomed textile
