Vintage Turkish Runner Rug, 3.10 × 10.11 ft Rug, 118 × 335 cm

Woven in the fertile Çukurova plain near Adana around the 1950-60s, this long flat-weave runner unfurls a lattice of stacked hexagon-diamonds, each outlined with ivory saw-tooth “water” hooks and filled with medallions symbolising prosperity. The palette draws directly from the region’s orchards and cotton fields—warm terracotta, pistachio green, pomegranate pink, dried-apricot orange and indigo blue. Narrow cream borders repeat pairs of the elibelinde fertility motif, their rhythmic silhouettes enclosing the vibrant inner garden. Hand-spun wool and natural dyes yield subtle variations in tone; gentle abrash testifies to decades of sun and air, while the weaving shows the crisp precision for which Adana kilims are prized.
