This vibrant kilim runner from Şarkışla, a town in the Sivas region of Central Anatolia, features bold tribal geometry and powerful color symbolism. Woven in the mid-20th century, the rug is defined by a strong central axis of hexagonal medallions, each enclosing nested diamonds symbolizing protection and fertility.

The palette is fiery and high-contrast: saffron yellow, orange, cherry red, pale grey, and black—each created from plant-based natural dyes. Elaborate side motifs, including hook-and-cross amulets, represent cultural and spiritual protection from harm.

Expertly handwoven from wool on wool, the kilim exhibits fine workmanship and well-preserved condition. Its size and visual dynamism make it ideal for long entryways, hallways, or layered interiors where pattern and history are celebrated.
